Spencer R. Pierce
Spencer Pierce, PhD., is currently the Jim Moran Associate Professor of Business Administration in the Department of Accounting at Florida State University's College of Business. He earned his doctorate in Accounting Information and Management from Northwestern University in 2014. Prior to his doctoral studies, he received both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (Cum Laude) and a Masters of Accountancy (With Distinction) from Brigham Young University.
Professor Pierce’s primary research interests include financial reporting and disclosure, capital markets, accounting for derivatives, and firm risk. His research has been accepted for publication by journals such as The Accounting Review, Management Science, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Journal of Financial Reporting. Professor Pierce currently teaches Financial Accounting and Reporting I (ACG3101) for which he has been a recipient of the University Undergraduate Teaching Award and the College of Business Undergraduate Teaching Award. Spencer is a licensed CPA in the state of Colorado.
